Who We Are

The CW5 Julian A. Evans III Foundation was founded in honor of a man with a brilliant mind, a big heart, and a servant spirit who never met a stranger! To know CW5 Evans is to know a true man of God living by God's word through his actions and deeds. He was a man of impeccable character and unlimited potential. Julian believed in higher education. He and his wife would always talk about how they wished they could adopt many children to benefit from the educational benefits they earned from their active-duty service to this country. His wife, Josie Evans, started this incredible scholarship foundation to support this very wish and to honor her husband's life, legacy, and the sacrifices he made for the country and all humanity.

The Foundation's Mission

To honor the enduring legacy of service and compassion embodied by CW5 Julian A. Evans III, his Foundation is committed to making a profound impact. Our mission is realized through the provision of merit-based scholarships for high school seniors, dedicated support for families facing hardship, and the development of impactful programs designed to uplift communities, Veterans, and their families, thereby inspiring future generations. In every initiative, we strive to carry forward Julian's commitment to excellence, his remarkable generosity, and his passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Application Requirements for Financial Awards

The foundation offers three different scholarships to eligible high school seniors. The scholarships are:

· CW5 Julian A. Evans III Military Brat Scholarship

· CW5 Julian A. Evans III Eagle Rising Scholarship

· CW5 Julian A. Evans III Richard Anthony Scholarship

Each scholarship has specific guidelines and criteria for applying. The application for 2024 will open in October. The exact dates are to be determined. We encourage you to apply for all scholarships for which you qualify. Each applicant must possess the below criteria to apply:

· Must be an American citizen.

· Must be a high school senior in the state of Alabama.

· Hold a 2.5 or higher GPA on a 4.0 scale.

· 20 hours of community service (waivable if an applicant is an all-year athlete or participates in other extracurricular school activities, including a job. Must provide a letter from a coach/supervisor.

Note: Applicant must be a Gold Star Child to apply for the CW5 Julian A. Evans III Gold Star Scholarship.

Chief Warrant Officer 5 (CW5) Julian Antoine Evans III (January 27, 1973 – July 10, 2023) was a distinguished U.S. Army Warrant Officer with over 30 years of honorable service. He enlisted in June 1993, became a 948D Electronics Maintenance Warrant Officer in 2002, and passed away while serving as the Deputy Commandant of the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College.

CW5 Evans was a selfless leader, known and respected for always prioritizing his family, Soldiers, and fellow warrant officers. His extensive career included critical leadership, strategic planning, and technical roles across the Army, such as deployments during OIF-1 and OIF-3, along with assignments with TRADOC, PEO Missiles & Space, and the U.S. Aviation & Missile Command. He held key positions like Senior Warrant Officer Advisor, Deputy Product Manager, and Battalion Maintenance Officer, shaping leader development and vital technical operations.

Academically, Julian earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Trident University and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University, complementing his numerous military certifications in Army Acquisition, Project Management, and Contract Management. His exceptional service was recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (6th award), and the Combat Action Badge, along with the Honorable Order of Samuel Sharpe and the Order of Saint Barbara.

Beyond his military achievements, Julian's generous spirit and remarkable, outgoing personality touched many lives. A true man of God, he served as an Associate Minister and actively participated in community and professional organizations. He found his greatest joy in spending time with his beloved wife, "Bunny," and family, and he enjoyed cooking, golfing, reading, and challenging himself. CW5 Julian A. Evans III's infectious leadership, profound influence, and legacy of excellence continue to inspire everyone who knew him.
